Title: Head Coach

Coach Yorges was named Lane’s head cross country coach for the men and women in 2023.  In his first year at Lane, he guided the men’s team to the Southern Region Championship and a runner up placing at the NWAC Championships. Two of his athletes earned All-American Honors as well. He led the women’s team to a third-place podium spot at the NWAC Championships as well as having another All-American Honor on their team.

Prior to coaching cross country at Lane community college Chris compiled an impressive record locally at the high school level.  He coached nine boys’ teams to the OSAA State championships with six top ten finishes. His girls’ teams qualified for the OSAA State championships 11 times with eight top ten finishes including a runner up placing and a top five regional ranking in those years.

During his college career Chris competed for BYU earning multiple podium placings at Conference Championships, four first team All-Conference Academic honors and a Scholastic All-American.

Chris has continued his love of running as a master’s athlete and has the unique distinction of having won 13 USATF National Championships in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Coach Yorges is entering his third year at the helm of the Titan Cross Country Program. 

In 2024 Coach Yorges in only his second season, was awarded the title of Southern Region Coach of the Year on the men’s side, a testament to his leadership and the team’s cohesive dedication.

He led the Titan Men’s team to their 18th Southern Region Title in program history.  The men finished their season by earning third place at the NWAC Championships and having two individuals earn All American Honors.

The Women’s team placed second at the Southern Region Championship and went on to earn a hard earned third place at the NWAC Championships.

Chris grew up locally and attended Churchill High School where he was a standout in cross country, wrestling and track.  His wife Cheryl is an educator in the 4j school district. They have three daughters, Whitney, Ashley and Nicki and a husky named Kaya.
