The Lane Titans Men's Soccer team tied the defending NWAC Southern Region Champions Saturday afternoon to open league play.

The Titans came in to the day at 2-0, both victories coming in the NWAC Friendlies in August.

The Rogue Ospreys, who won the NWAC Southern Region a year ago, held a record of 2-1-1 entering Saturday's matchup.

The Ospreys proved to be a difficult challenge this early in the season, but the Titans rose to the occasion.

After mutliple early defensive stands, Sophomore forward Griffin Rea blocked a goalie punt into the net, opening up a 1-0 lead for the Titans in the 19th minute.

The Titans fought to enter halftime with their lead intact, but Rogue's Mason Klipfel found the back of the net off of an assist from Koby Ibarra.

Both teams were deadlocked going into the locker rooms.

The Titans fought to retake their lead in the second half, but were unable to convert, ending the match in a 1-1 draw in this highly anticipated Southern Region matchup.

The Titans will travel to Salem next Saturday to take on the Chemeketa Storm for their second league match.
