Titans Baseball Advance With Upset Win Over Spokane

LONGVIEW, WA – On Thursday, May 21, the Lane Titans baseball team successfully upset the East No. 1 seed Spokane Sasquatch in the first round of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Baseball Championships. 

The Titans used a huge offensive outburst and dominant bullpen pitching to earn a 12-2 win over Spokane at David Story Field in Longview, WA. The Titans advanced to plat the winner of the Edmonds-Lower Columbia game.

After Spokane grabbed an early 2-0 lead, Lane answered with four runs in the fourth inning and never trailed again. Sophomore Nolan Donivan led the offensive surge with a monster performance, going 3-for-5 with a home run, 5 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Peyton Tyner also had a big day at the plate, finishing 4-for-6 with a double, a home run, and 4 RBIs.

The Titans collected 15 hits overall while drawing 8 walks. Austin Takahashi added 2 hits and scored twice, while Jalen Riddle drove in 2 runs.

On the mound, Kenneth Price earned the win after striking out 7 over 5.0 innings. Lane's bullpen trio of Colton SchmidtSam Wilson, and Brennan Herr combined for four scoreless innings without allowing a hit.

Next up, the Lane Titans continue NWAC tournament play Friday at 7:35 p.m.
