Matt Dallas is a redshirt-freshman from Salida High School and Salida, Calif. Dallas has played catcher, pitcher and short stop this season.
Over the weekend Dallas started at all three previously mentioned positions. In game one at SWOCC Dallas started on the mound and got the win after throwing five scoreless innings with only three hits, two walks and six strikeouts in the Titans 12-0 win.
In game two at SWOCC Dallas started behind the plate and went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored in the Titans 4-2 win.
In game one at home vs SWOCC Dallas started at shortstop and went 4-for-4 with a walk, home run (first career), four RBI’s and four runs scored. The home run came in the bottom-of-the 8th with two on and two out, leading 13-5 with a chance for a run-rule victory. After working the count and fouling a pitch off his foot, Dallas ended the game with a three-run, walk-off home run to left-center field.
In game two vs SWOCC, Dallas went back behind the plate and finished 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and scored a run in a 6-4 win to complete the series and season sweep.
On the weekend Dallas finished 8-for-10 with a walk, two doubles, a home run, six runs scored and five RBI’s.
On the mound this season Dallas has a 5-3 record with a save. He has thrown 44.1 innings with 45 strikeouts and a 2.65 ERA. During conference play his numbers have improved to a 4-1 record with a save, 32 innings thrown, 30 strikeouts and a 2.25 ERA.
At the plate this season Dallas has a .330 batting average with a .355 on-base percentage, seven extra-base hits, 23 runs scored and 23 RBI’s. During conference play his number have improved to a .406 BA, .421 OBP, four XBH’s, 17 runs scored and 14 RBI’s.
The Titans will play in a Super Regional double elimination tournament that starts this Friday. The Titans will be a three-seed and will face a four-seed from another region. More information will be available this week on the site and opponents.
